스티브잡스 - 실패는 내인생 최고의 순간이었다.

 

My second story is about love and loss.

두 번째 이야기는 사랑과 이별에 관한 이야기입니다.

 

I was lucky.I found what I love to do early in life .

 

저는 운이 좋았습니다. 제가 정말로 좋아하는 일을 일찍 발견했죠.

Wos and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20,

 

스무살때 워즈 와 저는 애플 이라는 회사를 부모님의 차고지에서 시작했습니다 

 

we worked hard and in ten years

우리는 10년간 정말 열심히 일했죠

 

 

Apple has grown from just the two of us in the garage

 

in the two billion dollar company

 

with over. 4,000 employees,

 

애플은 두명이 차고에서 시작해서  4000명의 직원을 가진 20억 달러 기업이 되었습니다.

 

we just released our finest creation,the Macintosh a year earlier, and I just turned 30.

 

제가 서른살이 되기 1년전 우리는 최고의 작품인 매킨토시를 출시했습니다. 

 

 

 

And then I got fired.

 

그리고 저는 해고 당했죠.

 

How can you get fired from a company You started? 

 

어떻게 자신이 만든 회사에서 해고당할수 있을까요?

 

Well. as  Apple grew, We hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me

 

회사가 성장하면서, 우리는 함께 회사를 운영할 매우 재능이 있다고 생각되는 사람을 고용했습니다.

 

and for the first year or so, things went well

 

첫해에는 모든것들이 잘 흘러갔습니다..

 

But then our visions of the future began to diverge.

 

하지만 그 후 미래에 대한 우리의 비전이 엇갈리기 시작했죠.

 

And eventually we had a falling-out 

 

그리고 결국 우리는 사이가 틀어졌습니다.

 

 

 

and so at 30.

 

I was out and very publicly out

 

그래서 서른살에 저는 완전히 공식적으로 해고되었습니다.

 

what had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone and it was devastating.

내 삶의 전부라고 할수 있는것을 잃어버렸기에 매우 힘들었습니다.

 

I really didn't know what to do for a few months.

몇달동안 저는 무엇을 해야할지 몰랐습니다.

I was a very public failure and I even thought about running away from the valley

저는 모두가 아는 실패자였고 실리콘 벨리에서  도망칠 생각도 했죠..

but something slowly began to dawn on me.

 

하지만 뭔가 제게 서서히 떠오르기 시작했습니다.

 

I still loved what I did.

 

저는 여전히 제가 했던 일을 좋아했었죠.

The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit.

 

애플에서의 일들때문에 제가 바뀌지는 않았습니다.

 

I've been rejected but I was still in love.

 

저는 해고 당했지만 여전히 제 일을 사랑했죠.

 

And so I decided to start over.

 

그래서 저는 다시 시작하기로 마음먹었습니다.

 

I didn't see it then

 

 

 

but it turned out that getting fired from.Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.

 

그당시에는 몰랐지만, 애플에서 해고된것이 제인생에 있어서 가장 멋진일이 되었습니다.

 

The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being

 

a beginner again less sure about everything.

 

성공하는 것의 무거움은, 모든것에 대해 확신이 적은 초보자의 가벼움으로 대체되었습니다..

 

It's free me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

제 인생에서 가장 창의적인 시기가 될수있는 지유로움이 주어졌죠.

 

During the next five years,

 

I started a company named Next. Another company named Pixar.

 

5년동안 Next 와 Pixar 라는 회사를 시작했습니다.

 

 

 

Pixar went on to create the world's first computer animated feature film Toy Story.

 

Pixar는 세계에서 처음으로 컴퓨터 그래픽 애니메이션인 토이스토리를 제작했습니다

 

and is now the most successful Animation Studio in the world.

 

그리고 지금은 세계에서 가장 성공적인 애니메이션 스튜디오가 되었습니다.

 

In a remarkable turn of events,

 

Apple bought Next and I returned to Apple.

 

놀라운 반전은, Apple 이 Next를 인수하면서 제가 애플로 돌아왔다는것입니다.

 

and the technology, we developed it next is at the heart of Apple's current Renaissance 

 

그리고 Next의 기술력이 현재 애플 혁신의 중심이 되었습니다.

 

I'm pretty sure.

 

None of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple,

 

만약 애플에서 제가 해고되지 않았더라면 이런일들을 일어나지 않았을거라 확신합니다.

 

it was awful tasting medicine but I guess the patient needed it. 

 

엄청나게 맛이없는 약이었지만. 환자에게는 꼭 필요했다고 생각합니다.

Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick.

가끔은 인생을 살며 벽돌로 머리를 맞는 경우도 있을것있습니다.

 

Don't lose faith.

신념을 잃어버리지 마세요.

 

I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I love what I did.

내가 극복할수 있었던 유일한 이유는, 내가 한 일을 사랑했기 때문이라고 확신합니다.

 

You've got to find what you love.

 

여러분들이 좋아하는것을 꼭 찾아야 합니다.

 

 

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life.

 

여러분의 일은 삶의 많은 부분을 차지할것입니다.

 

And the only way to be truly satisfied,

 

Is to do what you believe is great work.

 

그리고 진정으로 만족할 수 있는 유일한 방법은

스스로 멋지다고 생각하는 일을 하는것 입니다.

 

And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

그 멋진일을 할수 있는 방법은 여러분들이 좋아하는것을 하는것입니다.
